Most British expats in Berlin would say that Indian food isn’t quite up to standard in the Vaterland. But I have to say, AMRIT, has transformed my opinion. Sitting prettily on Ebertstraße 14, on the corner of Voßstraße, AMRIT may appear to be an inauthentic tourist trap but far from that the quality is.
Walk inside and you’ll be greeted with a friendly smile from the female concierge dressed in a sari. You’ll be promptly shown to a table where you can order your drinks, and nibble on popadoms while you peruse the menu.
My partner and I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh and Aloo Paneer with Garlic Naan. Served with tasty complimentary rice, the food is served on a bed of salad and was a vivid red on the outside, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Feeling incredibly full, we decided against ordering dessert, but a wide selection were on offer. Topped off with a free shot of mango punch. Lovely!
Top tip: if you fancy a bit of added spice, AMRIT have a delicious red and green chilli. Only tiny droplets necessary as it packs a mighty punch.
